Rules
Overview
Theme:
The three ideals of the Templars,
a secret society that held wisdom, strength and beauty as central
pillars of their temple.
Setting: The inner planets of
the solar system, space
craft, and low orbit.
Characters: Pairs of
people, ships, sciences, and machines.
Events:
Civilization has just colapsed. No one knows what happened.
Our heros don't know it but they are building a new civilizaton.
In the process consipracies of the ancient world are exposed.
This ancient world includes our current one.
Details
Theme:
The templar ideals are exact parallels to the three primary TFT
statistics. Wisdom = Inteligence, Strength = Strength, and
Beauty = Dexterity. Download TFT at

Inteligence is a useless and bigoted
term. It is replaced by wisdom and should be interpreted by
what that word means. Education, social status, and the ability
to work mathmatics are all considered forms of wisdom.
Beauty is defined here as motion and grace. Accuracy and skill
are considered forms of beauty. The first draft of a book is
also considered beautiful with all of its flaws and mistakes.
Once revised and edited it is no longer beautiful. It is just
considered wise. It has become a wise book.
Strength is measured relative to the mass of the character or
object. The isometric strength. Elephants are weak, ants
are very strong. A lake of water is very weak, but water from a
fire hose is very strong.
Setting: Star trek and star
wars skipped over the most important bit. Low orbit.
That's were all the great settings, and epic events will take
place.
The asteriod belt is considered
deep space. Equivalent to the current antartic. It is
also the current frontier or wild waste land that only desperate
characters go to.
Cities are founded on
literary
styles. Specifically they are named after the authors of
those styles. The divisions of the city are named after their
books.
Characters. Natural disasters must happen
in pairs. A hurricane followed by a solar storm. The
character of man vs. environment or man vs. nature is trivial in the
future. Only in the combination of plague and disaster can the
city of the future be challenged and threatened.
None of our characters will exist alone. They will always be in
pairs as well. The idea being that the individual is powerless,
but a concensus is unstoppable. If a space ship is to be a
character it is to be a pair of space craft.
The central thesis of our characters is this. Nothing exists
alone. Even a lone person does not really exist. Only the
relationship between two beings has any existance, any
reality.
Events: Conspiracies to expose.
Gagets
of the future
Pressure
bulbs: Light bulbs on the space craft are pressure
sensitive. They only produce white light in one atmosphere of
pressure. As the pressure in the room drops they change to
yellow, red, and finally black light in zero atmosphere. If the
pressure is too great they go blue then violet.
Inflateable space craft: heavy metals weigh too much to
launch into space. Craft and space stations are large
inflaitable doughnuts that spin. They have multiple layered
walls that are filled with water. These provide insulation and
protection from radiation. Patching a hole in a ship is done
with needle and thread.
Space walking:
is common and a recreation activity.
A
3d mouse is called a bat. As in the flying nocturnal
creature. All computer interface is done via a keyboard typing
out the full command or a bat. A bat is suspended from 3 wires
that come from three sides of the room. The bat is a pen that
hangs there. As the pen is moved it describes a movement in 3d,
unlike our current 2d mice. It is mercury filled and can detect
its own orientation. So the angle one holds the bat affects
things too. In this way one can draw a 3d box, or use the bat
to control a virtual sword, even affecting orientation and
twist.
The do not list
Do not use tech terms to describe out future world. Every thing
is magic and vodoo. As A.C. Clark said, suficiently advanced
technology looks like magic. A TV is an illusion.
Propulsion for a space craft is Lightning. Guns are magical
rods that shoot fire, or finger bones, or produce great wind that
knocks people over and blows out windows.
Space craft do not attack cities but cities may attack craft.
Cities give birth to the space craft, as such they may eat their own
young. But a ship will never attack a city. Ships do
fight each other however.
Average people are
not persuaded by words, and instantly disbeleive anything they see in
video. They only way to recruit a fellow conspirator in a bar
is to show them the math. Write it out on a napkin. But
without the math, it is automatically assumed to be a lie.
Never use the following words. It is difficult to write around
them but it must be done. Money, time, and real (or reality).
Water has taken the place of money. Time as a tool of science
and comon language was overthrown with the rise of the new science
that lead to the colonization of space. And reality is the
language of bedroom talk between lovers. As such the last is
spoken through physical contact and not words. In my experience
the word Time is the most difficult to write around.
Slang is bad. It slows down the reader and contribues little.
Instead of using slang just invent a new word entirely. Besure
to make its meaning very clear from the context of its first
usage.
Do not talk about science or
technology with out using emotional words. There is no such
thing as a sleek black ship or weapon that gleams in the light.
It is to be quiet angry thing shimmering in the light.
Technology is to be ascribed human emotional attributes.
Do not let the narative care if someone is evil or acts in an evil
way. The reader will attach their own feelings too it, without
us telling them how to feel. Conversely never describe a very
righteous act without telling the reader exactly how to feel about
it.
Do not use buttons for anything.

And lastly, never finish a story with out using the exact same
sentance that started the story. The idea is that the reader
will read it but will not understand. By the end they will.
And on a second reading the first sentance will jump out at them
anew.
Secrets
The renaisance is a
fraud. Byzantium had fallen to the Turks. All the
science of ancient Rome fled to shelter with their brothers in the
west. Thus Europe inheirited the art and knowledge. Many
of the great breakthroughs of the time were just European nobility
cashing in on what they learned from refugees seeking a new place in
the world. The vast majority of discovery during the renaisance
were already known to the temples of ancient Rome. The only
real contribution that Europe made was to make them public, and to
publish them.
500 years of European
history were faked.
The newly formed European Monarchies had their pedigrees doctored and
faked. If this is 2004, the date is actually 1504. As
such the year in our stories is 100 in the future, or 1604.
The missing 13th
amendment to the constitution. Some state archives have the
Freeing of the Slaves listed as the 14th amendment and not the 13th.
This missing amendment was designed to prevent the rise of a
profesional full time political class in america. Obviously the
Amendment failed.
The pyramids were built
using cement.
Sure the missing facing stones, and the cap stone were quarried and
carried over, but the majority of the structure is the early Egyptian
form of cement. Much easier to carry a bag of that up and mix
it with water, than lift every single block into place.
Cain killed able with his feet. This explains the eastern
insult when you point a foot at them. It is the sin they wish
to hide. It is the reason Bruce Lee was killed. He knew
how to step on the head of a fallen opponent to break their neck.
And he was going to show this openly in the original draft of "The
Game of Death".
Hannes
Alfvén discovered the unified field
theory that eluded Einstein. But being a plasma
physicist he was laughed
out of the room by the reigning Astronomers of his day.
Doplar shift only shows the age of a star, it has nothing to do with
movement away from us or it's distance.
Any other consipracy that you fancy.
Long range goals
To introduce a new literary style and period to the world. As
many great authors that America has produced, Europe and maybe the
world still say that there has never been written a great American
novel. I submit that this is due to the absence of Royal
Patronage as was common in the Europe of old. To that end we
will seek out and get Patronage from individual political figures in
our own Government. Corporate sponsoship is to be shuned, and
only used in distribution not in patronage.
